Spiritual Formation
FOR TEENS
WATCH (aka Wednesday evenings At Church) is our name for the Saint Matthews' mid-week program on Wednesday evenings. The evening starts each Wednesday with a simple dinner at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Food is provided, but contributions are welcome. Programs last from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and offer something for all ages. The teen programs include the following:
Middle School: (grades 6-8): The middle school group will discuss Wild Truth Bible Lessons, led by Vicki Nelson.
High School: (grades 9-12): Teens will view and discuss DVD programs such as, NOOMA! (named for the Greek work for spirit/breath/wind)—exploring faith and practical challenges in the context of their daily lives. Led by Tom Leary and Lisa Lintelman.
Youth Group. Saint Matthews has a dynamic youth ministry with regular small groups and lots of fun activities each month for both younger and older teens. For more information and a schedule of youth ministry activities, contact Charlie Biegel, Vicki Nelson, or any member of our Youth Leadership Team.
Summer Missions. In 2008, Saint Matthews will offer two mission trips for teens. From August 3-9, teens and adults will travel to Philadelphia to serve the inner city community through children's programs and home improvement projects. On June 29- July 5, nearly 40 teens and adults are off to Belize, partnering with a local church in Pomona doing construction, children's ministry, and other practical services for the surrounding community. In addition, middle schoolers can participat in Mission Possible, a week-long program of daily service projects in our local area.
Confirmation will be in the fall of 2008. Contact Father Rob if you are interested in being confirmed.
