COMMUNITY

Here at Saint Matthew’s we are building a “community.” A place of friendship, sharing and support that demonstrates that we are a community that “knows and shares God’s love."  Each year we are adding more and more ways that provide you with support, fun and new friends. The items below illustrate what we currently provide and areas of growth for 2008. Please join us and become part of the Saint Matthew’s family.

  • Pizza and Game nights -
    • Time to hang out and play a new or favorite board game with your family and/or new friends and families.
    • Occur three to four times a year and are held in the parish hall.
    • Pizza is provided, bring a game and a side dish or dessert.
    • It’s a lot of fun and it’s a night for the family away from the TV.
  • Small Groups
    • We have a number of small groups meeting monthly
    • If you would like more information
      • Book Club - Richard Henry, randdhenry@verizon.net
      • SAGE (our wisest members, anyone 55 and older is welcome to join) The next meeting is on Thursday, January 24 at noon in the parish hall.  Contact Margaret Kopp or the church office for more information.
  • Helping Hands
    • Established to help those within our Saint Matthew’s family. Providing meals or other services such as rides to the doctors.  Contact Miriam Turner, helpinghand@stmatthewssterling.org
  • Special Events
    • Easter and Christmas – Celebrations for these special dates in our religious calendar. At Easter we host a dawn breakfast following the Sunrise service and at Christmas we host a good old fashioned Christmas carol sing-along.
    • Annual Meeting of St. Matthew's is held in January where we vote on vestry members and a yearly budget.

If you are a "newcomer" to St. Matthew's, welcome!  Newcomer Welcome packages that include information about our church and activities are available in the church entrance.  Members of St. Matthew's look forward to getting to know you and sharing with you the remarkable ways God is working here.  St. Matthew's is rich in relationships that matter.  Growing together, we worship and serve, laugh and cry, and learn and apply God's life-changing truths.  If you have been looking, praying, and hoping for a place to belong, welcome home!

Let us get to know you better, fill out a Membership Profile form.

If you have any questions about community activities, feel free to contact Pam Hart, community@stmatthewssterling.org.
